Stocking a crayfish tank
Some people will tell you that you cant put crayfish in a community tank with other fish or other crayfish, but this is not true.
If you want to add a crayfish to an aquarium with other fish its basically a try it and see what happens. Some crayfish do just fine and never bother any fish, some will occasionally catch a fish from time to time, and some will terrorize your whole tank. Its up to you if its worth the risk. Just remember some aggressive fish may also pick on the crayfish.
There is no "right" fish for the tank, you can only try it and see what happens. The only fish I would avoid are slow bottom dwelling fish just because their an easy target.
As far as keeping multiple crayfish in the same tank, many will say you cant but that also is not true. As long as their the same species it depends on the size of the tank and the personality of the crayfish but once again its at your own risk, you can only try it and see how it goes. If you want to house more than one crayfish just make sure there is enough room in the tank for them to have their own territory and add lots of caves and places to hide (at least one cave per crayfish). Crayfish are most vulnerable when they are molting, other crayfish or fish will eat them while in the molting process, this is why it is important to have as many hiding places as possible.
Typically you would keep one crayfish per 30 gallons but I currently have 2 electric blues and 1 white in a 55 gallon tank and they are doing great together. If things change and they stop getting along just be prepared to seperate them into different tanks if need be.
Have fun and good luck :)
